Nadine's child identity business proves a winner
When Nadine Lewis became separated from her son in a busy shopping centre, she vowed if it ever happened again he would have some form of identity on him so that they could quickly be reunited.
Nadine was already in the child identification business, having established a small homebased business called Identikids in 2002. She supplied children’s ID cards that were fitted to a the rear passenger seat of a car and could provide vital information about any existing medical conditions to emergency services in the event of an accident.
It was a good idea, but had limited success and was only of anty real use in the event of an accident.
Customers were already asking for the ID cards to be produced in a form that young children could carry with them when Nadine had the frightening shopping centre experience and so she decided to look into ways of offering just such a product.
And that's when Nadine hit upon the idea of wristbands.
Today, Identikids supplies a range of children's ID wristbands, dog tags and medical bracelets and business is booming. Nadine's products an now be found in over 1,500 shops nationwide including branches of Boots and WH Smith.
